These people sync in RA because they want to farm glad points and they know they can't win in TA because they are not good enough.

OT This really isn't a problem I rarely see it and even when I do my teams usully end up winning anyways. Synced teams are not hard to deal with.

lol are you serious, its not really a big problem, 95% percent of the time it doesnt even work, and yes i have tried it, because it actually makes RA more fun.

uhm... no
ppl still spam trade like hell in local chat so that ain't gonna work
i got an idea and put it like this way
after player A, B, C and D have synced in RA they get to 10 wins and go back to RA to resync
if Anet puts in a system that makes sure you can't team up with any other players you have been in a team before they could solve the syncing thing
best thing is to do this with IP check

You were obviously doing it wrong then. When I do it, it has about a 75% success rate, and that's with at least 3 people.

Dishonour system stopped most syncs and quite a few other RA griefers.

Yes it's still possible to sync but its almost not worth the hassle, and it's much slower than when people would immediately leave matches when their sync failed.

there should be no sync in RA. the reason is obvious....it defies the principle.
for arranged gameplay theres TA.
anet should fix this....if they care about RA at all.(and its a big IF....although it still is the most popular pvp type)

Well, if I were to start RA'ing then I'd chose to sync with guildmates instead of going in randomly and always ending up with a warrior or an assassin who thinks he's awesome because he can spam glimmer of light.

But, I haven't RA'd in a very long time, but I'm guessing its still the same.
However, I do know that people sync in RA, guildmates or alliance members, I mean, because they just want to have fun playing together instead of having to run a set build in Team arenas.
So basically, random way with friends in RA instead of having some PVXwiki team while you go up against another PVXwiki team in TA.

syncing does need to stop in ra, it makes it not fun when u are a random group on 9+ wins and u lose to a sync team, its probably the worst thing about ra next to pvx wiki, after all isn't the point of ra to be in RANDOM groups, and yes i understand it will happen occasionally based on pure chance, but enough is enough, if u have nothing better to do then sync ra go get 4 more ppl and gvg or ha

I suck enough even without syncing. Of course playing a caster and running into a group with a monk and 2 backfire mesmers or another group with a monk, a SF el, and a spirit spamming rit might have something to do with it as well.

I agree with the shutting it down idea, but it needs more than that. I say if two or more people manage join a RA team from the same alliance that team should automatically be sent over to TA before the match starts.

Big flaw withthe OT's plan, what's to stop random people with no affiliation from forming up sync groups in pm chat, geting on a vent or TS and counting down? I was recently in RA as a monk, I was doing well, couple of my team mates had no tags, and none of the others matched, we rolled some loser team on the kill count map and they accused us of syncing.

seriously, it's just RA, it's a big turd sandwich of an arena anyway, syncing is the least of it's problems. You gamble each time you hit "enter battle" there that you'll get a viable team, if you get with your allies/cohorts, lucky you, if not, tough tits, you get matched against a sync team, hard nards. throw the bones and hit Enter battle again.

What they ought to do is set it so a 5 win streak in TA nets the same as a 15 win streak from RA(IIRC you get the same from a 5 win in TA as for the RA). Motivate them to go where the planned teams are expected.

Just merges RA and TA into one place (delete one of them), and then you just can enter solo, with 2, 3 or 4 people team (I mean you can hit start button whatever size of your team is, and randomly the team will be 4 people in-game) // They should do exactly the same in HA.

That won't do.

Random parties (not always thanks to Synch) are random.
Teamed parties are not random, therefore they can have WAY better synergy between party members.

That is: 4x8 skills < 32 skills.

There has always been syncing in RA, It is kinda unfair to those who don't sync. But hey its RA, you're taking it way too seriously.

Synching isn't that big of a deal. It takes maybe 3 or 4 tries (and thus, you have to play out 3 or 4 full matches of RA) before you can actually get on the other person's team. But then the other 2 members of your team are still completely random. You could get a healing hands Wammo, or another monk. So it is still pretty random. Maybe if every other team you faced had synched team members (so that if your team doesn't have synched team members you are screwed). but the problem isn't that widespread. /notsigned

You're wrong. It's all about winning in RA.

There's only two reasons to be opposed to randomizing player queue before match start they are:
1) random teams means less chance of winning streaks, meaning less glad points and luls @ teh nubs.
2) possibly longer waiting time before match start.

And only one person in both synching megathreads so far has even realized the possibility of 2).

Here's a simple idea: Add Syncing to list at /report menu. Reporting for syncing gives player 18873287438736876843768437643756565 point of dishonour.

Or wait, i have another idea that we can do: Report sync players for using bugs (theres option like that in /report menu)

Although I'm assuming you're being sarcastic or trolling (based on the dishonor point claim), but just to be safe I'll stick something here before someone runs with that.

First, reporting for syncing won't really work because:

A) Duplicate guild tags exist, so two people with the same tag could end up on the same team without having synced and have no idea who the other one is... thus they're falsely accused of syncing.

B) Not everyone who syncs is from the same guild. Alliance members may have different tags but still know each other and intentionally sync. Same situation occurs when people sync with contacts on their friends list... in these situations you can't prove that they've synced unless they admit to it. It's essentially a he-said-she-said at that point, so nothing will come of it.

C) People with (or without, just easier to understand as with here) like tags can end up on the same team without attempting to sync. Hitting enter at the same time increases the chances of players being together, but it is entirely possible to hit enter 28 seconds apart and end up on the same team depending on how many other people hit enter in between. Again, this is essentially a false accusation as they did not attempt to tip the odds in their own favor by hitting enter at the same time.

D) Along those same lines, not every team of 4 that is assembled stays together until they lose. People leave/lag out sometimes, and this person must be replaced prior to the next match beginning. In this situation a person from any district can be selected and placed there... not really possible (nor practical) to intentionally sync this way. Try proving that players synced by hitting enter several minutes apart and see how far that gets you.

E) Until syncing is officially classified as a 'bug' or 'exploit' reporting people who sync for this will likely backfire on you, as you would be flooding the system with unfounded reports; do this if you want, but when you're suspended for /report abuse don't be all that surprised (or maybe you can be as I'm not sure if anet has ever followed through on that).

Honestly I think most of you are making too much of this. That, and you don't seem to fully understand the situation. Not doing well in TA doesn't have anything to with being bad most of the time. TA is very competitive. TA guilds and people who TA all the time have an obvious advantage because they know the format, the meta, and can get matched against anyone regardless of ranking or skill level. Contrast this to something like GvG or even HB where lower ranked guilds/people are not usually matched against higher ranked guilds/people. TA has no mechanic for this. What this means is that to actually have an enjoyable experience in TA you need 4 people who all know what they're doing, a firm grasp on the meta, vent, and a build with a lot of synergy. Unlike RA, this usually means TA is "serious business", unless of course you like to lose.

That and the TA meta has never been what I think anyone familiar with it would call "good". Often this makes RA a more attractive alternative. If you want to play with friends but don't want to deal with a lot of setup, syncing is the only real choice. It's not necessarily about farming glads either; it's more about playing with other people and just enjoying what's left of GW.

Why sync? Why not just use TA?

Well, for those of us who actually play TA you would know how many lame builds are played. The meta in TA goes like this,

TEAM A
SHOCK AXE
EURO RANGER
SOUL BIND NECRO
STANCE MONK

TEAM B
2 ENRAGED LUNGE
SOUL TWISTING RIT
STANCE MONK

TEAM C
SHOVE SPIKE

TEAM D
RANDOM ARENA TEAM

Try it sometime, it's horribly lame.
